ARPINO OFFICE HEADQUARTERS HAS BEEN LONGLISTED TO THE FRAME AWARDS 2020

The very first interior design project designed by Arpino has been longlisted to the Frame Awards 2020 for Small Office of the Year. By going through to the first round Arpino have proven the work to be outstanding in its field, as well as both innovative and highly creative within in its category.

Over 1076 submissions around the world Arpino is the only office from Africa running on the competition for the shortlisted projects. The jury will begin shortlisting projects and on the 12th of December the official nominees will be announced – these will be the final projects invited to the live judging and Frame Awards prize giving ceremony on the 19th & 20th February 2020 in Amsterdam.

Arpino’s new office and corporate headquarters project was a great challenge for the brand, not only in demonstrating the capability of its in-house design team, but mainly in demonstrating the responsiveness of the production platform that have installed in Angola, especially our carpentry, a space that is adjacent to this new space.

This project served as an experimental laboratory for the brand, in which several concepts were tested, concepts of mutability, modularity and mobility, as well as different typologies for workspaces.

Arpino é vencedora do Red Dot Award Product Design 2019

Apenas 1,5% dos produtos inscritos ganharam um Red Dot: Best of the Best.

Arpino wins the Red Dot Award Product Design 2019

The OXS urban design line received the Red Dot: Best of the Best Urban Design, the top distinction in the competition. It is granted for ground-breaking design and goes to the best products in a category.

Design quality is the common factor for award-winning products
“Winning the Red Dot: Best of the Best is a very special honour, because only a very small percentage of entries are granted this distinction. It is well-deserved recognition for a wonderful design achievement and proof that the award-winning companies are amongst the best in design. Consumers can rely on the first-class design quality of the winning products, because they were tested and selected by an experienced jury according to strict assessment criteria,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, in reference to the winners.

Experience and expertise get straight to the point
The Red Dot Award: Product Design is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In 2019, designers and manufacturers from 55 countries entered more than 5,500 products in the competition. Only 1.5% of the objects entered won a Red Dot: Best of the Best. CONCEPT / POSITIONING

Arpino is an contemporary design brand that confidently meets the challenges of the new global city, imagining it as a place of autonomy, community and connectivity. Our carefully crafted pieces – designed and produced between Europe and Africa – embody cutting-edge technology, contemporary design nous and a strong ethics of environmental sustainability. Led by the experienced industrial designer Carlos Pereira, we champion freedom as well as functionality, approaching urban environments with the simple goal of making them better places to be.

Arpino’s first product line, the core OX series, is inspired by a borderless notion of what it means to inhabit and use common spaces, day and night. We believe in conscious design that accommodates and includes all cultures and topologies, working with neutral and modular forms that are highly adaptable to different spaces – from housing estates and public plazas to schools and shopping malls. This range includes elegant urban lighting and way finders, airy pergolas, multimedia kiosks and protective bus shelters as well as traditional urban essentials such as tree guards, bins, benches and bollards. These everyday items – common to so many cities all over the world – are however turned on their head, transformed into high-quality, minimal design pieces that work with each other as well as with the space they are located. This fundamental urban equipment, with its quality of lightness and modularity, is as easily at home in a square in New York as it is an airport in Luanda. OX is, first and foremost, made for beautiful and efficient common spaces and the people who use them, wherever they are in the world.

We aim to mediate the integration of technology in public space and play a positive role among the communities who use it.

We are, quite simply, design for the future.

INNOVATION / DESIGN / TECHNOLOGY / ENVIRONMENT

INNOVATION
Our research depends on constant experimentation as well as design expertise. Arpino doesn’t just come up with new ideas for urban spaces: we want to inspire change in how they are used, and ultimately, make them better places to be.

DESIGN
Restraint is key to our design ethos. Arpino considers that any urban object, be it a bollard or a bicycle rack, should have its own conscious identity that perfectly fits the purpose for which it is made – nothing less, nothing more.

TECHNOLOGY
Technology is changing how we use cities, and good urban design needs to hone this transformation. Arpino is conscious of the power that wireless and mobility technology hold for public spaces, and incorporates it in its pieces to the highest standards.

ENVIRONMENT
Arpino prides itself on realising inventive solutions that work as much for the environment as they do for the city. From 100% solar-generated equipment and efficient LED light sources to “clean” paints and easy recyclablity, sustainability is our priority.
